What would happen if, by the time you find out you'll need an Elder Scroll, you already have one? I know in some cases when you already have a needed item (say, the Dragonstone or the golden claw, at least one of which is pretty likely to happen in an average playthrough) it will give you a special dialogue choice ("Wait, you mean this golden claw?") but if it's such a huge part of the quest, what happens? Will you just not do the Elder Knowledge quest at all?Īs a side question, in Discerning the Transmundane, Septimus tells you to go to Blackreach through Alftand. I already did everything the long quest required, but i cant activate the pedestal. (I know this is possible, at least on the Xbox version.) You then go to Alftand, Raldbthar, or Mzinchaleft, and somehow make it to the very end (say you had been leveling up through methods other than the main quest.) You place the Attunement Sphere in the receptacle and go down to Blackreach, then head to the Tower of Mzark, where you obtain the Elder Scroll.

AFAIR the puzzle is pretty straightforward: you press buttons. Before you do any of the main quests, you go to Septimus Signus' outpost and pickpocket the Attunement Sphere from him. To decipher the code, press the 2nd button from the right a few times until the Lexicon opens and button two lights up. The universal answer to such a question is to search for instructions on the site like UESP. I walked back to Septimus and he implies in our conversation that i have this lexicon cube.

Let's say you've just started a new game. to activate it and place it on the lexicon receptacle. receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.
